The Valentine’s Day event was celebrated on February 14, and now let us have a look at the items and expenditures made by the Indian population on this occasion.

Quick commerce platforms saw huge growth during Valentine’s Day as last minute shoppers rushed to buy gifts. According to the report, instant delivery services recorded sharp spikes in orders for flowers, chocolates, gift packs, jewellery, greeting cards and plush toys.

Swiggy Instamart reported a 10 times increase in orders during the key Valentine’s Day hours. At exactly 11.59 am on February 14, chocolates hit their highest demand with 1,042 orders per minute, the highest per minute sales ever recorded on Valentine’s Day for the platform.

Flipkart Minutes also saw strong growth. The platform recorded a 7 times year on year increase in sales. Orders peaked between 9 am to 10 am and again between 7 pm to 8 pm on February 14.

The surge was not limited to metro cities. Demand expanded beyond major urban areas to cities such as Ranchi, Siliguri, Ludhiana and Dehradun.

The report noted that after festivals like Diwali, events such as Valentine’s Day, Christmas and Raksha Bandhan are becoming important sales drivers for quick commerce companies.

Industry experts say quick commerce is enabling impulse buying because many people shop for last minute gifts. The festive period starting from Raksha Bandhan in August and continuing till Diwali in October remains the biggest sales season, with 2025 expected to show over 30 percent year on year growth.
