Only 36.68 percent Votes Polled Halfway Through TS Polls
The much-awaited elections did not get the anticipated start with a lower vote percentage.
The D-day had arrived as the general elections in Telangana started earlier today. Polling started at 7 PM with the voters reaching to the polling booths. The much-awaited elections did not get the anticipated start with a lower vote percentage. By 9 AM less than eight percent was recorded.
With time passing the vote percentage started picking up. By 1 PM the percentage stood at 36.68 per cent which is impressive compared to the initial percentage. By 11 PM only 20.64 percent was reported. It appears that voters are slowly coming out to cast their votes.
Voters did not show up at the pooling booths as anticipated. For the past few weeks, the elections were in the news. But the same did not reflect in the elections in the vote percentage initially. The Election Commission said the vote percentage was 36.68 percent by 1 PM.
In the previous elections, the Telangana elections recorded around 75 percent. Experts say that this time the vote percentage might be surpassed. But the vote percentage hints at a different outcome as less than 37 percent was recorded halfway through the polls.
Looking at the overall picture, senior citizens are setting up a big example of the importance of the vote power and the need to exercise it. People with health issues are also coming to the booths to exercise their voting rights. Using their experience they are standing as an example to the younger generation.
A concerning fact is that polling will be held for only 4 pm in a few constituencies due to Left impact. This might impact the overall vote percentage as one hour of voting will be cut short. Celebrities are coming to the booths to cast their votes. A few celebrities cast their votes already.
