Big Demand Comes From YV On Extending Common Capital Tenure!
YV Subba Reddy also said that they will raise the issue of continuing Hyderabad as the common capital will also be raised.
Andhra Pradesh was severely affected by the state bifurcation. The state was left with a debt budget and no capital. To help the state a special status was granted and Hyderabad was proposed as the common capital for 10 years. The ten-year time that was granted will come to an end soon.
Ahead of this, former TTD Chairman YV Subba Reddy made some crucial comments and raised a new demand. He said that Hyderabad should be continued as the common capital till Vizag becomes the executive capital.
Saying that they will put pressure on the Centre in Rajya Sabha for the state interests and demands YV Subba Reddy also said that they will raise the issue of continuing Hyderabad as the common capital will also be raised.
What YV Subba Reddy said is not a small thing. Continuing Hyderabad as the common capital means AP will also have certain shares in the income that is generated by the capital city. Hyderabad gives a major share of income to Telangana. If the common capital tenure is extended then the income should be shared.
Will this demand be implemented is the big question here. Given the ties between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the demand might not be accepted by Telangana which is in a comfortable position.
When Hyderabad was announced as the common capital the previous AP government did not focus on this. Instead, Amaravati was proposed as the capital city, and land was also pooled. Had the AP and TS government worked on the common capital we might have seen a Chandigarh-like situation. Chandigarh has been a common capital of Haryana and Punjab. Let us wait and see what happens here.
