The kind of immigration policies and new regulations that Donald Trump has been bringing in his second tenure as the President of the United States is becoming incomprehensible these days.

The US Citizenship and Immigration Services recently issued notices mentioning a $1,000 parole entry fee, creating widespread panic among immigrants. The Department of Homeland Security announced the rule on October 16, 2025, requiring the fee for certain immigration programs.

However, many green card holders also received these notices by mistake, leading to confusion. Immigration experts clarified that Legal Permanent Residents (LPRs) are not required to pay this fee. The charge applies only to applicants under asylum, Temporary Protected Status or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals

Experts believe USCIS mistakenly included individuals who had previously used Advance Travel Parole before obtaining green cards. This bulk mailing caused unnecessary fear among immigrants.

Those who already have green cards can ignore the notice. But applicants with pending Form I-485 cases are advised to consult immigration lawyers and regularly check their USCIS online accounts for updates.

The incident highlights the need for better communication from USCIS to avoid confusion. Many recipients expressed frustration over the misleading notices, emphasizing that such administrative errors can create stress and distrust among immigrants navigating complex visa and residency processes.
