USA BO Trend: Telugu Audience Are Changing?
Despite the worldwide recognition gained by Ram Charan after RRR, his film Game Changer managed only around $1 million in US premieres.;
The United States box office has become a major contributor for the Telugu film industry over the last decade. But the Telugu in the United States are becoming increasingly impatient with the choice of films.
The overseas market, especially in the United States, is showing a clear shift in how audiences are responding to Telugu films. Industry observers say viewers have become far more selective, and star power alone is no longer guaranteeing massive premiere numbers.
For instance, Mahesh Babu returned with a highly anticipated collaboration with director Trivikram Srinivas, yet the film could not cross the $1.5 million mark in US premieres. Similarly, NTR Jr had earlier delivered nearly $2 million premieres with Devara, but advance sales for War 2 have struggled to even reach $1 million so far.
A similar trend was seen with Prabhas. After nearly touching $4 million in premieres with Kalki, expectations were high for his next film directed by Maruthi, yet early numbers indicate it may not reach $1.5 million.
Even major stars are facing the same pattern. Pawan Kalyan, who once generated around $3 million premieres with OG, is reportedly seeing slower response for his current projects.
Despite the worldwide recognition gained by Ram Charan after RRR, his film Game Changer managed only around $1 million in US premieres.
Trade analysts say the trend clearly indicates that overseas audiences are now prioritizing content, buzz, and director credibility over pure star power.
