T20 World Cup: Indian-Origin Bowler Helps US Defeat Pakistan!

The ongoing T20 World Cup continues to offer thrilling matches. When the USA was picked as the venue for the event there were a few doubts on the decision. But all the doubts were cleared from the very first match. The pitches are tough to read and we are seeing low-scoring thrillers.

The South Africa and Sri Lanka match is a classic example of this. Sri Lanka was wrapped up for just 77 runs. In response, South Africa also struggled. It took 16 overs for the Proteas team to chase the target for the loss of four wickets.

It was another entertaining match the other day. Pakistan and USA locked horns and many felt Pakistan would march on to an easy win. But hosts USA recorded a thrilling win in the super over. An Indian-origin player played a key role in the USA winning the match in Super Over.

Pakistan came to bat to score 18 runs to win the super over. Saurabh Netravalkar was given the big responsibility. He held his nerves and conceded just 13 runs helping his team to win the match by five runs. He is the reason behind the USA team getting all the applause.

Saurabh Netravalkar was a Bombay boy and he even represented India at the U19 World Cup event. In the tournament, India lost to Pakistan. Cut to 2024 he helped defeat Pakistan in the T20 World Cup. He moved to America in 2015. He struck a balance between his work and passion. He debuted in the USA team in 2018 and became the skipper in 2019. He took five wickets against Zimbabwe in the ICC Mens T20 WC Global Qualifier B Tournament.
