There is complete panic among the MLAs of the ruling BRS in Telangana. The reason? The BRS boss has indicated that at least one fourth of the sitting MLAs have a poor report card and will be replaced. This decision is said to have been based on the survey reports that KCR himself got commissioned. But, the big problem is no one knows who among them would be replaced.

The BRS had won 88 MLA seats in the 2018 assembly elections. Later, it lured 15 MLAs from both the Congress and the TDP. With this, the BRS numbers in the assembly have shot up to 103. KCR had got all these MLAs surveyed for accessibility to people, responsiveness to party programmes, public image and local popularity.

These surveys have shown that at least 25 MLAs have fared quite poorly. The survey also indicated that the party will lose the seats if these candidates are repeated. Hence they would be replaced with new candidates with a clean record of public life. KCR is said to have indicated this to the party MLAs. But, he has stopped short of announcing the MLAs who would lose the tickets.

As a result, there is utter confusion and anxiety among the BRS MLAs as to whether their name is in the list of safe MLAs or if their name is in the danger list. The MLAs are said to be enquiring anxiously about their fate. Some MLAs have already got surveys commissioned in their own constituency to know their fate.
