Actress Monica Dogra appealed her Facebook fans to join hands to collectively donate Rs 50 lakhs for a music video on the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) Community. Much to her shock, People began accusing her of extracting money from public in the name of a social cause.
LGBT Activist and Musician Sharif Rangnekar who made a video on the LGBT rights recently at a minimal cost slammed Monica Dogra. She says Rs 50 lakh for a music video doesn't make sense as there are lot of more things could be done with such huge amount. She even quoted that amount could be helpful to NGOs working on the issues related to the LGBT Community.
On the other hand, Monika Dogra defended her decision to raise funds for the social cause. She explains the money wasn't just for a single music video but it would be used to create awareness and also make a documentary on the problems faced by the LGBT Community. Terming it as a huge project, The actress claimed this is the best she could do to raise awareness.
