Mohan Babu is the best supporting actor in Telugu Cinema who grew film by film so popular that he became a lead actor. In the 90's, he was called "Collection King" and settled as the lead actor with considerable following. He had to go through several tough times during his struggling before he got a chance with Swargam - Narakam. Post the release of the movie, he became so close to Dasari Narayana Rao, that he maintained a father and son bonding with him.

Honouring his work panning over the past 40 years, MGR versity celebrating 26th Annual Day, felicitated him with a honorary doctorate. He took it from the hand of Tamil Nadu Governor, H. Vidya sagar Rao. Mohan Babu got emotional receiving such an honour and talked about his connection with Tamil Nadu.

"I came to Chennai when I had nothing and whatever I am today, that is because of the love and respect, I received from Tamil people. They accepted me whole heartedly as one of them and today, when I am receiving this honour, I feel touched. This is an emotional moment for me as I consider Tamil Nadu as my motherland", said the actor. He then talked about how he struggled hard trying to find a chance in the film world as an actor. Governor Vidya sagara Rao, also praised Mohan Babu for his contribution to the cinema Industry.
