In September this year, Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government decided to purchase the ancestral houses of the legendary actors Dilip Kumar and Raj Kapoor to conserve the historic buildings.
The provisional government has determined the price of the ancestral houses of Dilip Kumar and Raj Kapoor in the heart of this city at â¹ 80,56,000 and â¹ 1,50,00,000 respectively. The two buildings, located in the heart of this northern Pakistani city, have been declared as national heritage.
In fact, the owners of the houses wanted to demolish them and build a commercial complex there. But the government has put a brake to their plans and wanted to buy these houses and repair the dilapidated buildings to show their greatness to the future.
Raj Kapoor's ancestral home is known as Kapoor Haveli. It was built by Prithviraj Kapoor's father Devan Basheshwarnath Kapoor between 1918-22. Prithviraj Kapoor's three sons opened their eyes in the building. The building of the ancestors of Dilip Kumar (Muhammad Yusuf Khan) is also there.
