Nag Ashwin, a well-known director, recently expressed his concerns over the Telangana government's plans to auction off 400 acres of land rich in biodiversity for development purposes. He voiced his unease during a press conference, stating his uncertainty about the best course of action but made it clear that he opposes the idea of deforestation for development. Ashwin suggested that instead of clearing vast tracts of land, exploring alternatives such as utilizing vacant spaces in existing IT parks could be a more viable solution. He highlighted that many of these parks have unused areas that could serve the intended purpose without the need to disrupt the natural ecosystem.

The government's proposal has sparked significant public outrage, with many citizens and celebrities alike stepping forward to criticize the move. The collective concern centers around the potential environmental impact of such a large-scale deforestation project. In line with the rising opposition, Ashwin shared his thoughts, emphasizing the importance of preserving the natural habitat. He even took to Instagram to share a story captioned ‘Mana Kharma’, indirectly referencing the controversy and underlining his stance on the issue.

"Even though it is for development, I don't feel it is correct to cut down 400 acres. Maybe opting for a tier-two city would be better, but I am not sure. I think there are a lot of IT parks in that area and half of them are vacant. If something has to be done, that space can be utilized, but I think 400 would not be better," Ashwin remarked. His comments reflect a broader sentiment among those opposed to the auction, advocating for alternatives that do not compromise the area's biodiversity.

This controversy brings to the forefront the delicate balance between development and environmental conservation. With Ashwin and other public figures voicing their concerns, the issue has garnered more attention, prompting a reevaluation of how urban expansion projects are approached. The debate continues, with many hoping for a solution that can accommodate growth without causing irreversible harm to the environment.
