These days, it barely takes a few seconds for a trailer to drop before social media jumps in with copy claims, trolling, theories, and whatever else people feel like typing. And now, even while SS Rajamouli is deep into his next film Varanasi, his older franchise has suddenly landed in the middle of a fresh controversy.

The new animated project Baahubali: The Eternal War was supposed to be a grand new chapter, a full Hollywood-style animated expansion of the Baahubali universe. Rajamouli isn’t directing this one; it’s in the hands of Ishan Shukla, who’s known for high-end animation work. The teaser came out looking massive: slick visuals, wild scale, stylish action. People were actually impressed… until one particular action bit started raising eyebrows. A mid-air combat sequence, where characters float and attack at lightning speed, instantly reminded some viewers of Kung Fu Panda. And boom, within minutes, the copy talk started.

The trolling got so loud that Ishan finally had to respond. And his reply felt almost too honest: he hasn’t even watched Kung Fu Panda. He said the team didn’t model anything after it, the similarity is just because both scenes involve mid-air combat, and Baahubali’s moment has its own logic in the story. Basically, it wasn’t “inspired,” it just… looks similar if you squint and want it to.

So far, there’s silence from the production house and from Rajamouli himself. Fans are waiting to see how this unfolds, but knowing the Baahubali brand, the final film will probably speak louder than any comment thread.
