No matter the result, Mega Prince Varun Tej always experiments when it comes to scripts. His next movie 'Operation Valentine' showcases the valor of Indian fight pilots while his 'Matka' seems to be an intriguing drama set in a period backdrop. On the occasion of his birthday, the team of 'Matka' released a special glimpse which generates a very good buzz on the movie.


The Opening Bracket video shows us the premise of 'Matka'. It starts with the hero playing music on a gramophone. The proceedings shift constantly between two timelines. Naveen Chandra appeared as a gangster while Ravi Shankar is seen as a police officer. The childhood portion of the protagonist shows him playing kabaddi and he then becomes the head of the gambling mafia. He smokes a Cigar and tells someone on the phone 'Promise'. The glimpse grabs your attention instantly.

While Varun is not shown completely, we can see his makeover for this film. He plays a very powerful character and 80s fashion suited him wonderfully. His dialogue delivery and screen presence is immaculate and the visuals are quite compelling too. The story takes place between 1958 and 1982. A Kishore Kumar has succeeded in recreating the milieu from the 50s to the 80s through his cinematography and Ashish Teja Pulala did a wonderful job with the set design. GV Prakash Kumar's background score is remarkable while the production values are good too.

'Matka' is based on a real incident that shook the entire nation. Varun Tej will appear in four different get-ups in the movie, as the story spans 24 years. Meenakshi Chowdary is the female lead in this project while Nora Fatehi plays an important role. The rest of the cast includes Naveen Chandra, Kannada Kishore, Ajay Ghosh, Mime Gopi, Roopalakshmi, Vijayrama Raju, Jagadeesh, Raj Thirandas and others.

Dr Vijender Reddy Teegala of Vyra Entertainments is producing the movie, in association with Rajani Talluri's SRT Entertainments. Karuna Kumar who made 'Palasa 1978' and 'Sridevi Soda Center' has penned the story, screenplay and dialogues for this movie apart from being the director. A massive set is erected in Hyderabad where the shoot is presently underway. The movie will have multiple action sequences which will be supervised by 4 fight masters. Karthika Srinivas R is the editor and Suresh is the art director.
