Tamil Big Stars Suffering From R-Syndrome

In recent times, many Tamil films have been promising big during the pre-release events and other promotional stuff. Later, when it comes to actually doing something big in theatres, they are falling flat on their face. That has now transformed into another big thing. Of late, many Tamil films are suffering from the R-Syndrome and they are somehow unable to escape from that.
That is nothing but Release Day syndrome. Recently Vijay’s Jana Nayagan, then Karthi’s Annagaru Vastaru, then Sivakarthikeyan’s Parasakthi, now Suriya’s Karuppu. Whether legal tussles or production-finance issues, Tamil stars are regularly suffering from “Release Day Syndrome”. Only directors are posting some emotional videos at the end of the day, expressing their disappointment, but then the films are getting delayed. Many are saying that Tamil films are not even planning things well these days, and that’s becoming a major problem.
The biggest twist is that, earlier, many Telugu producers used to back Tamil movies by paying them huge advances. Now such a thing is not happening, and they are releasing movies only on a share-percentage basis. This is leading to no income from Telugu states like earlier. If that’s the case, another thing is that more and more Tamil films are trying to target some particular religion and communities, and that’s not going well with the CBFC, unlike earlier. These aspects are troubling them a lot and hope they will do the course correction so that things get back to normal for the Kollywood folks.
