Finally, after almost 6 months, the last unreleased film of Chief Minister Joseph Vijay got the clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) recently. After being given a ‘A’ certificate, the film is now heading to theatres confidently on July 23rd, hoping that it will easily get a ₹100 crore opening, as it happens to be the movie that led people to get sympathy towards Vijay and made them vote en masse for his TVK party.
Right now as Jana Nayagan, the remake of the Telugu superhit film, Balakrishna’s Bhagwant Kesari, is hitting cinemas on July 23rd, many other movies in the race are backing off. In fact, Vijay’s Leo director Lokesh Kanagaraj is actually coming up with a film titled #DC, where he is playing the main lead as an actor for the first time. While the film was supposed to hit cinemas a week later on July 31st, it’s now been postponed to August 7th. Now imagine Vijay’s impact.
The same is the case with another July 23rd release, GV Prakash’s Immortal movie, which has now moved to September 4th, months away, as many big movies in the pipeline are likely to affect this film’s fate. Then comes Vijay’s son Jason Sanjay, who is not even promoting his 31st July releasing movie Sigma, as rumours are popping up that even that film got postponed to an unknown date.
Well, as people are cheering for CM’s last outing on the silver screen, surely competition is flying away, and that’s good for those movies too, because competing with Jana Nayagan yields poor revenues anyway due to a lack of theatres and attention.
