18 Patients die due to Power failure in a Hospital

Chennai floods have been causing irreparable damage. As many as 18 Patients at the MIOT Hospital in Chennai died on Friday just because of the failure of power and oxygen cylinders. All of them seems to be on ventilators in Intensive Care Unit when they passed away.

State Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan told the patients who died were in highly critical condition. He informs that all the other patents in MIOT Hospital were shifted to other hospitals.

MIOT Hospital is located on the banks of Adyar river and it is already flooded with water due to the flood situation. About 575 patients were in this hospital when the floods began and 75 of them were put on ventilator. 57 of the 75 patients were evacuated.
