The Cabinet In Delhi Government was affected by the alleged money laundering case and the much-talked-about Delhi excise scam. Two Cabinet Ministers were arrested in the two scams and they stepped down from their Cabinet posts. So this created vacancies in the cabinet.
Minister Satyendra Jain was earlier arrested and sent to jail in connection with a Money Laundering case. He was arrested last year and with that, his portfolios were transferred to Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. He has been taking care of the portfolios since then.
But Manish Sisodia was arrested by the CBI a couple of days back in the excise scam. After facing a big blow in the Supreme Court, Sisodia stepped down from his position. With this, two Cabinet positions fell vacant in the Delhi Cabinet. The leadership is working on this allegedly.
Now it is said that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leadership had picked Saurabh Bharadwaj and Atishi for the vacant places in the cabinet. The names were sent to Delhi L-G VK Saxena. Once the names get approval then they will be made the Cabinet ministers.
As it would take time for the two former cabinet Ministers to get out of the alleged scams, the Delhi government wants to look for alternatives for them so that there will be no issues in the administration of the portfolios held by the two.
The vacant portfolios include health, transport, and prisons. Keeping the relevance of the portfolios in mind, the party leadership wants to fill the vacancies at the earliest. For the same, the senior MLAs were selected for the cabinet posts allegedly.
Greater Kailash MLA Saurabh Bharadwaj is currently serving as the Vice Chairman of the Delhi Jal Board. Earlier he served as the advisor to Manish Sisodia when he oversaw the education portfolio. Now he might get elated as the Cabinet Minister.
Talking about Atishi, her career started as a political activist and eventually she ventured into politics. She joined the AAP and became an MLA. She is currently serving as a member of the Political Affairs Committee of the Aam Aadmi Party. If everything goes well then she might get a golden chance to be the Minister.
