After found guilty of corruption, ICC bans former Sri Lanka player for 8 years

The anti-corruption tribunal wing of the world governing body of cricket, International Cricket Council(ICC) announced a ban on former Sri Lanka allrounder, Dilhara Lokuhettige on Monday.

The ICC  imposed a ban on the ex-Sri Lanka player after he breached the anti-corruption code of the ICC. Sri Lanka allrounder has been banned for eight years from all formats of the game.

Corruption charges were framed against him for the first time in April 2019. Strengthening the charges, the  Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) had also leveled corruption charges against him in September the same year.

The ECB laid charges against him in connection with the 2017 T10 tournament played in the UAE.

Investigating the issue, the anti-corruption ing of ICC has found credible evidence to prove him guilty of breaching the ICC code. He had breached the code by three counts, Article 2.1.1, 2.1.4, and 2.4.4.
