Chaiwala is the word that is closer to the BJP brass. The party never tires of gloating over the fact that Prime Minister Narendra Modi sold tea at the railway station as a child. They call him Chaiwala prime minister and hold 'chai pe charcha' over his schemes and policies. In poll-bound Himachal Pradesh, they found another chaiwala to contest in the upcoming elections.
Sanjay Sood, who began with the ABVP and worked for sometime as a medical representative, is currently running a tea stall in state capital Shimla. He is also a dedicated worker of the BJP having been in political activity since the party's inception. The BJP has given him a party ticket to contest from Shimla Urban seat.
Interestingly, the party replaced four-time MLA and sitting minister Suresh Bhardwaj and gave ticket to Sood. The new candidate of the party is on cloud nine on being given the party ticket. He thanked the party for recognising an ordinary worker like him. He said he would strive to prove himself to be worthy of the recognition the party gave him.
Sood was a newspaper vendor during his student days. He joined the ABVP and worked for the organisation for several years as a student. Later, he had worked for two years as a medical representative. Later, he started selling tea in 1991 and has been active in the BJP. In several elections, he sat as the booth agent of the party candidate.
