Chandrababu Naidu calls himself a veteran politician. He goes to the town telling people that he is much senior to even Narendra Modi. But, in politics, he seems to be aping YS Jagan in making political moves in Anantapur district. What more? He is fast turning into a poor imitator of YS Jagan's strategies.
Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, YS Jagan took all caste equations into account and gave Hindupur lok sabha seat to Gorantla Madav, who is a Kuruba. The Kuruba is a dominant caste in this part. Similarly, in Anantapuram Lok Sabha constituency, the boyas are the dominant caste group. So, Jagan gave the ticket to Talari Rangaiah, who is from the same community. Both have won with huge margins.
Taking cue from Jagan, Chandrababu made BK Partha Sarathy as the convener for Hindupur Lok Sabha constituency. He is a Kuruba. Similarly, Kalwa Srinivasulu was made the convener for the Anantapur LS seat. He is a Boya. Chandrababu too followed the same caste formula.
There is only one problem. Unlike Madhav and Rangaiah, both the TDP leaders are seniors and have been at the helm in the district for quite some time. Many TDP leaders feel that there should have been some change in the district leadership. In the name of caste balance, the same old leaders have been given the same old responsibility. This has led to demoralization in the TDP ranks, who were looking for new people as leaders.
