AP CM Chandrababu Naidu responded on the letter sent by Centre asking State Government to stop the works of Polavaram Project. 'Water Resources Minister Nitin Gadkari is currently in London. I will talk to him about it soon after his return to India,' he said.
TDP Supremo expressed his dissatisfaction over lack of enough cooperation from Centre for developing capital-less and revenue-deficit state.
Polavaram: We have to acquire another 60,000 acres for the project. Land acquisition alone costs Rs 32,000 crore. Project cost is estimated to be Rs 12,000 crore. Rehabilitation of 98,000 tribals should be done. Altogether, We need Rs 42,000 crore for completion of the project.
Amaravati: Till date, Centre has given only Rs 2,500 crore for construction of new capital.
New Institutions in AP after bifurcation: 9 Institutions listed in 13th Schedule had been sanctioned but the funds provided for them are insufficient.
Delimitation of Assembly Constituencies: The constituencies has to be increased from 175 to 225 as per AP Reorganisation Act but that wasn't done so far.
When BJP MLAs and MLCs met him Today, Chandrababu Naidu questioned them, 'Is it fair to ask State Government to stop Polavaram Project Spillway tenders? How could we develop revenue-deficit state if we don't receive cooperation from Centre? You have responsibility to fight for the development of AP'.
BJP Lawyers assured CM that they would go to Delhi to bring the issues in the state to the notice of centre if needed.
