However, the recent serological survey conducted by the Indian Council of Medical Research on seroprevalence has something else to say about the virus spread in the country.

The serological survey was conducted in 700 villages across 21 states. However, the researchers have barred the national capital Delhi. The outcome of the survey is that nearly 25.3 percent of people aged 10-18 might have come in contact with Corona.

Talking about the survey, ICMR director general Balram Bhargava said, 21.4 percent of Indians might be seropositive, positive for Coronavirus.

The third survey found a significant increase in prevalence among adults at 21.4%, up from 7.1% during the second survey in August. In the first survey conducted in April, only 0.7% prevalence was detected. It was conducted between December 17 and January 8.

This marks the third nationwide serosurvey by the Indian Council of Medical Research. The first survey was conducted in April, last year, while the second survey was held between December 17 and January 8.

The recent survey has found that, compared to the previous two surveys, the prevalence of the novel Coronavirus among adults increased rapidly. The current survey said Covid19 was prevalent among 21.4% of adults, while the virus was prevalent among 0.7 percent and 7.1 percent adults in the first and second survey respectively.
