Covid-19 Second Wave: India reports 3,23,144 infections, 2,771 related deaths
In what it could be a shocker, India reported more than three lakh fresh Coronavirus cases for the sixth consecutive day. 3,23,144 people were found infected with the virus on April 27.
The data shared by the Union Health Ministry says, with the new addition of cases, the total toll of Coronavirus infections in the country has zoomed to a whopping 1,76,36,307.
With not less than 2,771 patients breathing their last battling the virus in the past 24 hours, the total casualties related to the respiratory disease in India rose to 1,97,894.
Looking at the recoveries a total of 1,45,56,209 patients have been declared cured of the virus so far after 2,51,827 patients have beaten the deadly virus in the past 24 hours. India has 28,82,204 active cases.
The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), said, as of the 26th of April, a total of 28.09 crore samples have been tested, while as many as 16,58,700 samples were tested on Monday alone.
Maharashtra continues to face the wrath of the pandemic outbreak by reporting the highest number of infections with as many as 48,700 cases. While Kerala, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Delhi are the other worst-affected states.
As a bid to contain the virus spread, Karnataka has imposed a two-week lockdown across the state. The lockdown will come into effect from tonight. From 6 AM to 10 AM, people will be permitted to get groceries, milk, and other essential services.
Expressed the concerns over the situation in the country, the other day, the Madras High Court has come down on the Election Comoosion severely and reportedly said that the officers should be booked under murder cases for permitting election rallies during the second wave.
