Dress Code a must to enter Temples

Madras High Court's Madurai Bench prescribed a dress code for entry of people into temples all over Tamil Nadu from January 1st , 2016. The address the growing concern over improper clothes while visiting temples, Judge S Vaidyanathan has given a clarity on what men, women and children should wear.

Men - Formal Shirts & Pants or Dhoti/Pyjama with Upper Cloth.

Women - Saree or Half Saree or Churidhar with Upper Cloth.

Children - Fully-Covered Clothes

The Madurai Bench ruled that these directions have to be implemented in all the temples falling under Hindu Religious & Charitable Endowments Department.

There were mixed reactions among the devotees about the Dress Code. Many of them who weren't aware of the code came wearing jeans & other modern clothes, only to return home without darshan on New Year day.
