Murmers have begun in Telangana over the way the medical and health services ministry is functioning. Questions are being raised over the way the medical services are functioning in the state in times of Corona crisis.
While Etela Rajender was the minister for health, he not only held regular reviews with the medical officials, he used to regularly visit several hospitals to see how the systems were functioning. On several occasions, he had even interacted with the patients either directly or through video conferencing. Soon after finding lacunae in the system, he used to escalate the issue with the officials and get the loose ends tightened. However, with Etela gone, the Corona control has been taken over by KCR, KTR and Harish Rao. All the three are conducting reviews, but have not visited the hospitals and inspected the facilities. Also, the reviews are becoming one too many with lot of overlapping.
Etela used to interact with the media on a regular basis. He also used the media as an effective tool of messaging for the public. Though three ministers are taking care of the health ministry, the vigour and vitality seen during Etelaâs time is clearly missing, say political analysts.
