The Indian Premier League (IPL) fans have enjoyed the recent mega auction ahead of the 2022 edition of the game. While the likes of CSK had brought a few players in the auction, the other teams welcomed new members. The fans of the respective teams are eagerly waiting to see how the teams will perform on the ground.
However, one thing did not go well with many IPL fans, more particularly the fans of Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Former Indian player Suresh Raina, who has been an integral part of the team since its inception was not bought by any team. Despite the association it enjoyed, CSK did not buy him though the team had enough money in the purse.
While one wonders why the CSK has not bought Suresh Raina, New Zealand's cricketer-turned-commentator Simon Doull gave an analysis for the same. Speaking to the Indian cricket news website Cricbuzz, Simon Doull gave a few reasons that could be the reason behind this.
According to the ex-international cricketer, a few reasons like Suresh Raina making himself out of the IPL 2020 when played in the UAE, being inconsistent, and main importantly losing the loyalty of Mahendra Singh Dhoni and CSK management.
During his interaction with Criccbuzz, Simon Doull said that when Raina did not play the IPL in UAE there was an opinion that things were not going well between the team and the player. On top of that, Raina lost the loyalty of Ms. Dhoni and the team which is very crucial. If this happened, then the chances of players making a comeback are very thin, he said.
Talking about the UAE edition of IPL, Suresh Raina had made himself unavailable for the whole season of the tournament in 2020 on the grounds of personal reasons. At that time, there were reports that something was not good between Raina and the team management.
Having missed the 2020 edition fully, Suresh Raina had joined the CSK team in 2021. However, he could not impress the fans with the bat as no match-winning performance came from him, making the fans wonder what happened to him.
