With Gujarat registering a large number of Covid positive cases and the death toll mounting by each passing day, there are rumours that the BJP might as well change its chief minister. Vijay Rupani, current CM, has clearly proved himself to be incapable of handling the Corona crisis. So, the BJP leaders at the national level feel that he should be changed to improve the party's image in the state.
Vijay Rupani's response has been sluggish and the state machinery was found to be wanting when the crisis was unfolding. The State Government also failed to control the Markaz cases in the state. Sources close to the BJP establishment say that Rupani might be made a Central minister, while a replacement would be found for him at the state level. The sources said that the party might appoint a Patel as the chief minister as the community has always stood by the party despite Hardik Patel's best efforts.
Another source in the BJP says that changing Rupani at this juncture may not be that easy and the party may continue with him till the Covid 19 crisis is resolved. Once the problem is solved, the party might opt for a smooth transition.
