A tragic incident has claimed the life of a young Indian student in New Zealand during a holiday outing with friends. The victim, 21 year old Shaurya Sriram, was pursuing engineering at the University of Auckland.

The incident occurred on April 5 at Lake Taupō, a popular tourist destination known for its vast waters and scenic surroundings. Shaurya had gone there with friends during the Easter break. According to reports, he entered the lake for a swim but soon began struggling in a deeper section of the water.

His friends noticed the distress and quickly pulled him out while he was unconscious. Emergency services were alerted immediately and attempts were made to revive him at the spot before he was rushed to a nearby hospital. Despite the efforts of medical teams, he could not be saved.

Local authorities stated that the case has been referred to the Coroner, which is a standard procedure in accidental death cases. The news has left his family in Mumbai in deep shock. They are now seeking assistance to complete the formalities required to bring his body back to India for the last rites.

The incident has sent waves of grief through the Indian community in New Zealand, with many stepping forward to support the family during this painful time.
