First Batch Of 'sputnik V' Covid Vaccine To Reach India From Russia On May 1!
To intensify the fight against the Coronavirus outbreak in India, the Union Government Has announced the third phase of the nationwide vaccine drive which will start on the 1st of May.
In the next phase of the vaccination drive, people between 18-44 will be vaccinated against the virus. For this, India has approved the third vaccine.
Russia's Sputnik V vaccine was approved by the Indian government making it the third vaccine dose after Covishield and Covaxin which will be used to vaccinate the beneficiaries.
The RDIF sovereign wealth fund, which deals with the marketing of the Russian vaccine Sputnik V has made all the required arrangements for more than 850 million vaccine doses per year. Agreements were made with five Indian vaccine manufacturers in this regard.
The head of Russia's sovereign wealth fund, Kirill Dmitriev was quoted by several media outlets as saying that the first batch of Sputnik V will reach India on May 1st."The first doses will be delivered on May 1," he said.
With India battling the surge in Coronavirus infections, several countries have come forward to lend a helping hand to India. Since the last week, India has been reporting over three lakh cases daily.
