Gautam Adani overcomes China's Zhong Shanshan to emerge as second richest Asian!
The Bloomberg Billionaires Index has declared, Gujarat-based Business magnate Gautam Adani, founder of Adani Group as the second richest person in India with a net worth of $66.5 billion.
To emerge as the second richest person, Adani surpassed Zong Shanshan, based out of Dragan country China. Zong Shanshan's net worth stood at $63.6 billion, the index says.
As expected, Mukesh Ambani, the chairman of Reliance Industries Limited is the richest Asian. After surpassing Shanshan to emerge as the richest Asian in February this year, Mukesh Ambani has been retaining the position.
Looking at the rankings of the global billionaires of Bloomberg, Mukesh Ambani, and Gautam Adani were at the 13th and 14th spots respectively. The net worth of Ambani stood at $76.5 billion.
Even the Covid impact couldn't stop the two richest people in India to see a rise in their respective net worth. Despite the Covid creating havoc, Ambani and Adani have increased their fortunes, which in turn resulted in the dup improving their ranking in the billionaires' list.
The rise in sticks of Adani Transmission and Adani Enterprises over the past year played a massive role in Gautam Adani increasing his fortune. The stocks of the two firms increased by 617 percent and 827 percent respectively.
