H-1Bs Can't Snatch Americans Jobs: USCIS

Update: 2018-08-21 07:19 GMT
US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Director L Francis Cissna wants US Congress to bring a new law prohibiting H-1B workers from replacing American workers. 'Quick fix for the problem would be to restrict the ability of the Employers to fire American Workers and replace them with H-1B Visa Workers. I'm willing to prepare the draft bill in this regard if I am permitted to so, right now,' he said.

Obtaining H-1B Visas has become tougher ever since Donald Trump became US President. Rejection Rate of H-1B Visas has increased in the recent years.

USCIS can now reject an H-1B Visa application outright instead of seeking additional details in the form of RFEs. H-1B Visa denials increased by 41 percent in the fourth quarter of 2017 as against third quarter. This development is attributed to Trump's 'Buy American, Hire American'.

In 2017, 75.6 percent of total 3.65 lakh applicants were granted H-1B visas and this include continued employment.
