Hindu Mahasabha Uses BJP's Strategy For Urban body Polls!

Update: 2022-11-23 07:53 GMT
The political picture in India changed post-2014 Lok Sabha polls. After the Bharatiya Janata Party came to power the right-wing ideology became popular as the saffron party started projecting itself as the saviour of the religion. It has already renovated a few popular temples. A big corridor was constructed in the temple city of Kashi.

The Bharatiya Janata Party in Uttar Pradesh already changed the names of a few places and structures after Hindu names. The highest populated state in India Uttar Pradesh is going for the urban polls and the political heat has increased already.

Strong right-wing party Hindu Mahasabha made sensational promises ahead of the polls. The party said that if it can come to power in the civic body then it will change the name of the city after a controversial figure.

Nathuram Godse is a controversial figure in India. He shot dead Mahatma Gandhi amid tensions between India and Pakistan due to partition. Though the Congress and other parties call Godse a killer who killed Mahatma Gandhi, the right-wing parties see him as an icon.

They won't see Nathuram Godse as the killer of Gandhi but as their icon. Keeping this in mind, the Hindu Mahasabha said that if it wins the polls it will change the name of Meerut city to Nathuram Godse Nagar. The body also said that the existing Islamic names of various places and structures will be changed after Hindu men.

"If Hindu Mahasabha gets enough number of councillors and wins the mayor's post, the name of Meerut will be changed to Nathuram Godse Nagar and Islamic names of different places in the city and the district will be named after Hindu great men," Hindu Mahasabha said.

It is known that BJP did the same and changed the names of a few places in Uttar Pradesh already and Hindu Mahasabha promising the same raised many eyeballs.

Political experts say that Hindu Mahasabha is using Bharatiya Janata Party’s idea for the local body polls. The saffron party tasted success already in the general polls with the idea. Now Hindu Mahasabha wants to walk on the same path and we have to see if it can taste the same or not.
