India Drags Pakistan To UN

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), which operates under the United Nations, has questioned Pakistan as to why India's Prime Minister Modi was not allowed to fly an airplane. Pakistan did not allow India's Air India One flight to fly in its airspace on Monday. This meant that the aircraft had to travel another alternate route. India has lodged a complaint with the International Civil Aviation Agency on the same issue. Responding to a complaint by India, ICAO federation President Olumuyiwa Benard said Prime Minister Modi had asked for an explanation as to why the VVIP aircraft were not allowed to fly in the air.

Pakistan's Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that the country had denied India's request to allow Modi's flight to use its airspace for hid visit to the Saudi Kingdom at the invitation of King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, citing alleged human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir. He added Indian High Commissioner was informed of this decision in written form

ICAO's main objective is to enable 193 countries to work together in the civil aviation sector. In August, when India abolished Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, the situation got worse. After the Pulwama attacks in February, India ambushed Balakot in retaliation. Pakistan has refused to allow Indian airplanes to fly in its airspace. On July 16, Indian Airlines were allowed to fly in the air. Pakistan, however, once again imposed sanctions with the repeal of Article 370.
