Update: 2023-02-13 15:23 GMT
It is known that the Island nation Sri Lanka is going through a big crisis now as things are not going well. The experts say that the ongoing economic crisis in Sri Lanka is the worst one the nation saw since its independence. Sri Lanka saw intense protests as people hit the road against the government.

A few decades back, Sri Lanka saw a civil war as Tamil people who migrated there had issues with local Sinhalese people. The fight between Tamils and natives started in the late 50s and went on till the late 2000s. Thousands of people lost their lives in the war and the Sri Lankan government took the issue seriously.

To fight for the rights of the Tamils, a body named Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam(LTTE) was founded in 1966. Though the body was found to fight for the Tamils, it started locking horns with the armed forces and Sinhalese people.

Seeing that the body is posing a big threat to the nation, Sri Lankan government decided to deal with the organisation and its members with an iron fist and started attacking them. The body even carried out assassinations of famous politicians and as a result, many nations started seeing LTTE as a terror outfit.

In the early 2000s, the Sri Lankan government started aggressively focusing on LTTE and almost wiped it out. The major members of the organisation were killed. However, the way the government dealt with bringing the organisation under control brought global criticism.

But a popular LTTE leader raised a new doubt on whether LTTE Prabhakaran is alive with his press conference. P Nedumaran, the President of the World Confederation of Tamils addressed the media in Thanjavur and said that LTTE chief Prabhakaran is still alive and he will come out soon at the right time.

He also said that the Eelam Tamils and Tamils across the world should come under one roof to extend support to Prabhakaran. P Nedumaran even said that he is in touch with the family members of Prabhakaran.

On the other hand, many say that Nedumaran might have made the comments to be in the news and there is no truth in what he said. To Back their comments they are mentioning the announcement of the Sri Lankan government that Prabhakaran is killed in the armed forces attack on the LTTE people.
