The insights of Jayaprakash Narayan on the Union Budget 2018 will offer a clear view of how did NDA Government plan it. 'If I say something about Budget, Rich and Upper Middle Class might feel bad. But still, I would say this budget is satisfactory,' he said.
Centre proposed 10 percent Long-Term Capital Gains (LTCG) tax on stock market gains exceeding Rs 1 lakh from January 31st, 2018. JP doesn't find any fault with this move and questions, 'What's wrong if tax was levied on the income earned? It's a good thing..Stock Market will get benefitted from it'.
JP opined severe damage has been done due to the failures of previous governments. He told Agriculture, Healthcare & Law-abiding Rule should be given priority when asked about the impact of Budget on rich and poor.
The Former IAS believes Healthcare Scheme offering Rs 5 lakh per family is a big step taken by Modi Government. He suggests People should be given an opportunity to chose their family doctor as the physician, focus need to be on modernization of government hospitals and appointment of sufficient medical staff. When it comes to agriculture, Centre has done nothing much to provide MSP for farmers. He advices the government to ensure there are no middlemen/traders to make farming profitable. At the same time, JP complains Centre hasn't done anything for law-abiding rule. He, however, lauds the government for roads, power and railways improvisation.
Jayaprakash Narayan pointed out Centre offered Rs 12 lakh crore out of total Rs 24 lakh crore budget to states itself & it's following financial discipline. Responding on the backlash from Andhrites, He explained Centre can't mention about the allotment to each particular state in Union Budget. 'It's not unfair to seek favours from Centre. Few Political Parties are worried as elections would happen in an year. I hate present day politics like anythingâ¦feel like assaulting the selfish/opportunistic politicians. It's unfair on the part of MLAs to hike salaries as per their wish,' he said.
