Johnson & Johnson Pauses Coronavirus Vaccine Trial

Update: 2020-10-13 05:17 GMT
Several pharmaceuticals companies across the world are working round the clock to find a safe, effective and affordable vaccine against the novel Coronavirus.

Meanwhile, the Johnson & Johnson on Monday said it had temporarily suspended its coronavirus vaccine trial because one of its participants had become ill.

The company said in a statement that it had suspended all clinical trials, including the third phase tests on its virus vaccine, due to an unexplained illness in a study they conducted. This led to the closure of an online enrollment system set up for 60,000 people for clinical trials. On the other hand, the Patient Safety Committee met and reviewed the situation.

Johnson & Johnson began recruiting volunteers in September to undertake a massive third phase of clinical trials on 60,000 volunteers at 200 centres around the world, including the United States.
