Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao created a furor with his announcement on merging some villages of Andhra Pradesh to Telangaan. He said that his Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu has agreed to return villages in Khammam district that were added to AP during the bifurcation of the State.
KCR'S statement has created a controversy and the other day Water Resources Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao said that there were no such plans. Now West Godavari District Collector Katamaneni Bhaskar issued an official statement on KCR'S remarks. Speaking to media the District Collector issued a clear-cut statement that those villages merged into Andhra Pradesh can't be taken back again into Telangana.
The official said, "There is no question of demerger of the villages in West Godavari district. A long legal procedure to be followed to merge or demerging of villages . It has to be done through the Parliament discussion. So far, we have not done any such proposals
He also said that four more villages of Burgampadu mandal from Khammam district are yet to be merged in Andhra Pradesh. Its known that a total of seven mandals from Khammam district in Telangana were transferred to AP for ease of construction of the Polavaram project.
