Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao claims to have fulfilled the farm loan waiver promise. 'We have successfully fulfilled our major poll promise in four installments. Loans amounting to Rs 16,124 crore of 35.29 lakh farmers have been waived. Banks have already issued 'no dues' certificates. It's the biggest ever farm loan waiver in the country,' he said.
Responding to the criticism from Opposition Parties over the interest farmers were forced to pay for delaying the loan payment by 3-and-a-half years, KCR offered to pay the interest if details were submitted within 10 days. 'We have waived loans of over Rs 16,000 crore. Paying another Rs 300-400 crore isn't gonna be an issue at all,' comments CM.
KCR pointed out the measures taken by TRS Government for the welfare of the farmers - Crop Loans, Irrigation Water, Uninterrupted Power, Good Quality Seeds & Fertilisers, Increase of Foodgrain Purchasing Centres and Godowns. He informed about the proposal to establish Farmer Coordination Councils for Minimum Support Price (MSP) in all Market Yards.
