KCR planning to contest local body elections in Maharashtra

It appears BRS boss KCR is quite serious about expanding the party in Maharashtra. He is said to be planning to put up candidates for the Maharashtra local body elections. He is reported to have prepared a list of  candidates to contest the Zilla parishad level elections in Maharashtra. He reportedly planning to take out 288 car rallies in the state.

KCR has already addressed a rally of the party in Maharashtra's Nasik. However, no A-lister has cared to attend the programme, much less join it. Some low level leaders did join the party, but none of them has a big enough profile to contest for  the MLA level elections.  KCR has appointed former minister Nagesh as the incharge of Yavatmal, Wardha and Amravati districts.

Similarly, former minister Jogu Ramanna and Puranam Satish were also given the responsibility of some districts. Minister Indrakaran Reddy has been asked to take care of Nanded district. These leaders will soon tour various districts of Maharashtra  and campaign for the party. Even MLA Balka Suman has been given responsibility for some areas of Maharashtra.

BRS sources say that in its earlier avatar, the party had contested local body elections in the early 1990s. It had won quite a few ZPTCs, MPTCs and sarpanches. It has also managed to bag the ZP chief posts in Nizamabad and Karimnagar districts. He wants to replicate the same thing in Maharashtra too. He is hence focusing on developing the party infrastructure at the ground level.
