In the light of the ongoing pandemic spreading its deadly wings across the globe, a team of researchers has carried out a study to study the risk factors of catching the virus.
Going by the findings of the study conducted by the researchers at Stockholm University in Sweden, unmarried men are more vulnerable to the virus compared to women.
According to the study, factors like belonging to low or middle-income countries with lower income and being not married play a crucial role in making men more vulnerable to the pandemic.
Talking about the research, study author Sven Drefahl said for the research, they have taken the data of adults between the age group of 20 and above who succumbed to the virus in Sweden.
If we have to take anything from the study, income, and education level in men increases the risk of losing their lives to the respiratory disease. The Covid-19 mortality rate among foreigners is less compared to Swedish nationals.
Compared to married people, the risk of losing lives to Covid-19 among unmarried men and women is 1.5-2 times high. The category of unmarried in the survey also includes people who never married and people who lost their spouses.
Irrespective of the marital status, men are more vulnerable to the virus than women and the risk of dying to novel Coronavirus among men is more than twice than of women.
