Bahujan Samaj Party leader Ram Bihari Chaubey was shot dead by two unidentified men in Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi city on Friday.As per the reports the incident was happned at his home. Two men touched the feet of Ram Bihari Chaubey and then shot him dead at his home. Chaubey was rushed to a hospital where he was declared deadThe assailants escaped.Chaubey had lost the 2012 assembly elections from Sakaldeeh constituency to BJP's Sushil Singh.Considered close to jailed mafia don Brajesh Singh, the slain man was active in local politics. Ram Bihari considered a frontrunner for a BSP ticket in the 2017 assembly polls.After the killing, BSP members, supporters, Chaubey's family and neighbours raised slogans against the police and the ruling Samajwadi Party government.Ram Bihari is the second leader to shot dead in recent times. In January this year, BSP leader leader Dharmendra Chaudhary was shot dead by unidentified men in Aligarh.
