Andhra Pradesh Has The Worst Literacy Rate In The Country With 66%

The National Statistical Office (NSO) has issued the literacy rates of the states from 2017 to 18 and the results of the report took everyone by surprise.

As usual, God's Own Country Kerala topped the list with a whooping literacy rate of  96.2%, while Andhra Pradesh has the least literacy rate in the state with 66.4%. What's even more surprising is that ist less than Bihar.

National Capital Delhi bagged the second spot in the list with a literacy rate of  88.7%, followed by Uttarkhand's 87.6%, Himachal Pradesh's 86.6%, and Assam's at 85.9%.

The National Statistical Office (NSO) took the participants aged 7 or more into consideration while constituting the report.

Andhra Pradesh which has the lowest literacy rate of  66.4% reported a gap of 13.9 percent between the male and female literacy rates. The gap between rural literacy and urban literacy stood at 19.2 percent.

On the other hand, fellow Telugu state Telangana has a literacy rate of  72.8% that is relatively less than the national average. Telangana has a gap of 23.4 percent between urban and rural literacy.

Kerala which has the highest literacy rate in the country has a less gap between male and female literacy. The state has a gap of mere 2.2 points.
