One More Nationwide Lockdown To Come Into Effect In India After May 2?

The second wave of novel Coronavirus is ringing the danger bells in India. As a devastating situation, single-day infections and casualties are being reported in big numbers.

With no option left, one after the other states are imposing mini lockdowns and night curfew to break the Covid transmission chain, which is the need of the hour for the country.

Following this, media reports are abuzz that one more nationwide lockdown is likely to be imposed in India to see that the prevailing Covid-19 situation comes under control.

If we have to take anything from the media reports, the Narendra Modi-led Union Government might impose a lockdown after May 2nd. The election results of the recently concluded in five states will be out on May 2nd.

After the election results will be announced, another lockdown might come into effect in India. Earlier, the Union Government imposed a lockdown in 2020 to curb the infections.

The nationwide lockdown was extended as the fresh infections began to rise constantly and everything came to a standstill. The government has started permitting things one after the other as part of unlocking.

Currently, India is reporting new Covid-19 cases in lakhs. For the sixth consecutive day, India reported more than three lakh cases with as many as 3,23,144 infections in the past 24 hours. India's Covid caseload stood at 1,76,36,307.
