Other Parties Have Politicians, BJP has IAS officers

Update: 2021-03-26 02:15 GMT
For the BJP, which doesn't have too many hopes on the Tirupati byelections, it's a fight between two IAS officers. With no major political leader, including locally well-known Bhanuprakash Reddy, Santa Reddy or Vishnuvardhan Reddy, showing any interest in contesting the byelections, the party is drawing from the retired IAS officers, who have joined the BJP.

While the party has civil servants like Chandravadan, IYR Krishna Rao and ex-DGP Dinesh Reddy in Telangana, it has Dasari Srinivasulu and Ratnaprabha in AP. The party initially flirted with the idea of pitting Dasari Srinivasulu. But the latest is that the party has decided on Ratnaprabha. Ratnaprabha is a Karnataka cadre officer, who has worked in AP on deputation. She is known for her no-nonsense approach and able leadership. However, will she be able to influence the voters? Well! There is no proof

Her husband Angalakurthi Vidyasagar too is a retired IAS officer known for his work in the tribal areas. He has also written a couple of books on tribal welfare. Interestingly, the party has appointed Dasari Srinivasulu as the campaign convener to work on her behalf. One wonders how will these civil servants fare in a battle that is dominated by political biggies with high stakes.
