This takes the toll of cases to surpass the mammoth 2.75 lakh-mark. This is the new record in the single day cases ever since the outbreak started in India.
The fatalities related to the pandemic have also reached an alarming level with as many as 274 fatalities reported in the past 24 hours taking the toll of the total fatalities to 7,745.
Maharashtra is still facing the wrath of the pandemic which possesses 90,787 cases and the death toll in the state rose to 3,289.
Tamil Nadu and national capital Delhi also reported a growth of positive cases as both the states have more than 30,000 cases.
The count of the cases in Andhra Pradesh reached 5,029 with more than 100 cases reported in the past 24 hours. So far 77 people succumbed to the dreaded virus.
Fellow Telugu state Telangana has 3,920 cases with 178 fresh cases reported in the past 24 hours. So far 148 people succumbed to the contagious virus. The active cases in the state rose to 2,030.
