A study by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has found that convalescent plasma therapy (CP), which is in practise for the treatment for Covid-19, has no effect on reducing the disease's mortality.
The ICMR conducted the larget trail in 39 hospitals with 464 patients with moderate coronavirus and administered convalescent plasma on some of them and found that the therapy failed to benefit coronavirus patients.
According to reports, the patients were divided into two groups, one group(intervention arm) which had 235 participants received two doses of plasma at a 24-hour interval, while the other(control arm) with 229 participants received the best standard of care without plasma.
"Thirty-four patients (13.6%) died in the intervention arm and 31 (14.6%) in the control arm," the report noted.
