Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been unanimously chosen as the new chairman of the world famous Somnath Temple Trust at Prabhas Patan town in Gujarat's Gir-Somnath district.
The Prime Minister is one of the trustees of the world-renowned trust and was elected to the top post collectively during a meeting which he attended by via video conferencing.
As per the PIB release in Delhi, "The Prime Minister accepted the responsibility and also applauded the efforts of Team Somnath. He expressed hope that together, the trust will be able to further develop infrastructure, accommodation arrangements, recreation facilities and help establish the stronger connection of the pilgrims with our great heritage.
After former PM Morarji Desai, Narendra Modi is the second Prime Minister to become the chairman of the temple trust. Also, Modi has become the eighth chairman of the trust.
