Protests intensify, several leaders detained

Several opposition leaders were detained or placed under house arrest as the protests intensified in Amaravati and surrounding districts, ahead of an assembly session where the state government is likely to announce the final decision of three capitals

There was high tension in Thullur village as a large number of farmers and other village people try to march towards assembly in the response of 'Chalo Assembly'. Police used force to stop the protesters. Police detained hundreds of TDP protesters, who were trying to reach Amaravati from Vijayawada and other parts of Guntur, Krishna, Prakasam and other districts.

Several TDP leaders were taken into custody or placed under house arrest. Vijayawada MP kesineni Nani, former minister Uma Maheshwar Rao were among the leaders placed under house arrest. Thousands of police were deployed in Amaravati, Vijayawada and surrounding areas.
