The Panchayats in Andhra Pradesh suffered a big shock when they got to know that the funds in their respective accounts were withdrawn already. They faced an even bigger shock when they found out who was behind the withdrawal of the funds. Now the Panchayats are in a state to not even make a comment on the unforeseen development.
According to the media reports, it was the Andhra Pradesh government that had withdrawn the amounts from the Panchayat accounts. The amount was deposited in the accounts by the Centre under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS).
The funds' issue came to the limelight when a few Sarpanchs found out that the funds in the accounts of the concerned Panchayats had reduced, while a few accounts showed zero balance, shocking the Sarpanchs. The concerned officials are yet to comment on the development.
The Sarpanchs tried to withdraw the amount from the accounts to take required precautions seeing the flood situation. As the floodwater from a few areas was drawn out, the Panchayats have decided to clean the waste and use bleaching powder. Little do they know that the bank accounts will shock them.
Knowing the situation, the Sarpanchs are requesting the Andhra Pradesh government to deposit back the money so that they can carry out their responsibilities without a break. How can the government use the funds given by the Union government, asked the Sarpanches?
