BJP and KCR may be arch enemies in Telangana. But the BJP doesn't mind aping TRS when it comes to winning the hearts and minds of the people. It may try hard to dislodge KCR and the TRS rule in Telangana, but the neighbouring Maharashtra's BJP, which is in power, is too eager to copy the KCR strategy.
Taking cue from the Telangana government, the Maharashtra government, which is led by the Shiv Sena and the BJP, has decided to organize community singing of the national anthem on Wednesday. It is clearly inspired by the success of the singing of the national anthem in Telangana. At 11 am on Tuesday, all public and private organisations, business establishments, educational institutions and even the buses and metro trains came to halt and the people sang the national anthem in unison.
CM KCR himself led the singing of the national anthem at Abids. The programme was a resounding success. Seeing the response to the programme, the Eknath Ranade-led Maharashtra too has decided to organize a similar programme on Wednesday. All public and private organisations will stop briefly to sing the national anthem together.
The Shinde government has sought the cooperation of all the sections of the society. The commentators are saying that the BJP has clearly copied the programme from the TRS in neighbouring Telangana. Sources say that more BJP-run states could join the bandwagon soon.
